I wasn’t into reading books at all when I got this recommended.
After highschool, I was just sick of reading all the stuff that I just HAD TO read in school, so when I was done, I was pretty sure I would never open a book again.
But then someone recommended me this book – this someone was a very successful guy – at this point I was sick of the thought of working Monday – Friday, 9-5 the rest of my life – He told me this book might give me some ideas and change my perspective. So I gave it a go!
I read the book in just a few days, and It made me realise some important things, and it actually made me quite happy!
I have never seen myself doing what everyone else does, the “normal” life, the “rat race”: go to school, get an education, get a job, working 9-5 to pay off my bills and loan from being a student, buy a house, work more to pay off the loan on the house, and then two weeks holiday with the family every summer, before getting back to reality and do the same over again, and again and again. Don’t get me wrong – Nothing wrong with this if this is what you really want and if this makes you happy – it’s just not for me.
Before I had a plan about doing something else, and before I knew something else existed – this was actually a very depressive thought for me: is this really all life has to give me? (and yes, I’m probably the only one feeling that way, right..?)
When I talk with people about this, most people laugh at me and said “Berit, nobody really wants that..but we have to, that’s life..”
Really..? I’m not stupid, you don’t have to tell me that I have to work – I know that, and I want to work! I love being busy and to have a lot to do! I just don’t want the “normal”(whatever normal means..) life where you work in a JOB (Journey Of the Broke..) your whole life, building someonelses dream, just to make enough to pay off your bills and debt – because that’s what a lot of people end up doing!
“Rich Dad, Poor Dad” was the beginning for me, the beginning of a different mindset – I realised that it exists other ways to work then the traditional way, you just have to leave what you know and think outside the box. I started to understand how I could use my work capasity way smarter then I had done before.
So, a happy message from me to you:
You don’t HAVE to be stuck in the “rat-race-life” if you don’t want to! I recommend everyone that hasn’t read this book, to read it! My opinion is that this book should be obligatory in every school all over the world! It’s written by Robert Kiyosaki, an American business man and investor. The book teaches you “the secret about money. That you don’t learn in school.”
Have you read it, if so, any thoughts?
